3.40.19 is out – new build for Symbian

Hello fringsters,

As you remember, we’ve released 3.40 a couple of weeks ago. We got lots of comments and feedbacks from you as well as some very helpful bug reports.

This is a quick post to let you all know that we’ve just released an updated version of fring 3.40 that should solve the bugs you guys reported about.

This version brings better stability as well as a smoother installation process.

Currently this version is available to Nokia S60 users. A version for Samsung Symbian handsets should be available in the next couple of weeks.

As always, please feel free to try it out and send us your thoughts – we’re always here to listen.

Problems getting in to my yahoo (subscribe as you call it). It is working on pc.

Skype is working for me, both talk and chat, but when I exit, my Skype partner get signed out from himself!!!!
A work around was to first change the highlight to my Skype Test call. Then I dont destroy my counterpartners log in status when I exit. It does take some minutes though.
Maybe a proper LOGOUT possibility could speed this up ? Or is that exactly what EXIT does?
Please keep up the good work!. Tnx.

Sorry, forgot to mention: Nokia 5800 XM version 21.

And it is brand new for me, and Fring 3.40.19 is my first install.

After more testing I must admit that my workaround when doing EXIT was not reliable. In many cases my Skype partner still got”logged” (grey x) out from himself. (on the screen). But when getting another of my partners buddies on line, suddenly his screen changed to correct green status again.

I wonder if my popping up via fring.com does change all my other Skype buddies status.
I dont know since they all were off line this night.
Well, something to work on for the next bug fix. hi.

Hey I am not able to view on which Chat my friends are on, whether MSN Gtalk Skype or Yahoo??
how do i know that??? its very important as there is no way of knowing who is online where?

Click on the small icon in the lower right corner.
The icon with a small head, and three lines to the right side of the head.
Then you see from what source your buddy is logged in.

I have found out to be sure, especially in Skype, it is important to UNSUBSCRIBE before EXIT. Then there will be more proper LOGOUT from Skype, and one doesnt mess upp all your Skype buddies becoming Disconnected.

In Yahoo, it is ok, but does take a long time.
If Unsubscribing, you will initiate an immediate disconnect from your buddys pc. Beatiful.

Omri, thanks for your reply to me.

I now succeed (still with version 3.40.19 and my Nokia 5800) to log in to both Skype and Yahoo, with my different nicknames and passwords, thanks. I guess that change was done in your server.

1: I hope that the next version will have implemented the proper logout from the services when only using Frings EXIT. It still does mess with Skype status of my buddies.

Just now I found a reliable workaround, doing UNSUBSCRIBE from SKYPE before making EXIT from Fring.
Then I dont mess up the status of all my Skype buddies.

In yahoo it sort of works as it is, but it takes many minutes before I show up as disconnected on my buddys Pc, but I dont mess with HIS status.
If I also UNSUBSCRIBE from Yahoo, my status show up canged almost immediately , as in Skype.

It is a little “clumsy”, but a safe workaround.

At the time beeing I am not member of more communities, so I have not tested towards them.

We have tested some hours 3 persons around a table, but only I using Fring.

2: Maybe it is an idea to show both the logos, Fring/Skype
and Fring/Yahoo and so on down the buddy list. Should be space for that, the symbol could be very little.
It is a quicker way to see from where the call chat did come than checking in to the extra page.

3: In Skype it seems as there are some more Status symbols than presented in Fring. If possible it would be “nice to have” in Fring, but not very important.

Thanks for a nice program, and I do look forward to the update.

    umulius.
