E71 is now supported
So you had some time to see what your new and shiny E71 can do. To be honest with you, we think it’s a wonderful handset too. But, don’t you think it’s time to get it fringing and not just ringing?
Yup, we think so too, so we’re glad to announce that we’ve just released a brand spanking new version for the E71. To get it, simply go to our download page, choose your handset, get an sms, click on it and you’re ready to go.
As always, we’d love to hear your feedback.

Just installed fring for the e71. While using skypeout or sip I cannot select options during calls. For example calling amazon requires me to select say option 1 to check on a order. When selecting 1 on the keypad the phone does not register it. As a result I cannot connect to amazon using fring. Please advise. Kind regards. itsgone6

Works extremely well, it may have already been pointed out, but have you thought about creating a fee for those who don’t want the message “On my mobile by http://www.fring.com“, its completely understandable that you do it, but it would be great if you gave the option not to in exchange for a small fee.

Decided to reboot the phone – seems to have worked now. Shame that wasn’t included in the instructions as that is the first installed app that needed a restart. Need to wait until I am near my wireless network to test.

I am not able to use write the “?” in chat sessions

I have same problem on my E71 with finnish key layout :/, problem get fixed for a moment if you close your chat-window and bring it back (all the text will gone..) by clicking your buddys name

Hi,
i like fring a lot, but recently it has been giving me grief but logging out in the middle of a session.
most of the times it is when I m scrolling down my contact list. towards the end of the online list it will just suddenly log out.
FYI, I’m using E51. Pls let me know what to do, thanks.
P.S.: have tried reinstalling it but it’s not of much use.

works nice, some issues with special chars btn, but if you hold ctrl/alt key for 2 sec, you get the chars, even those not on the keyboard like underline (have 2 logins with underline), further more holding any key wit a special char as a second gives the char, that’s why i do not need practicaly the special chat btn
…and maybe a chat log, to switch on and off, to keep some precious lines 
Had some issues with scrolling in chat and a great idea for selecting text in the recieved msg-es or maybe even clicking on links in there
But then again, even so is good enough.

Ok 2 requests. 1st try to add keypad pushing option during skype calls, if you’re calling goog411 that is ok, but any other where u have to choose menu with number 1 2 3 or so on, u cant do it. 2nd thing, it might be this version only cuz im using fring for the 1st time, but there is no option for changing your status, away, busy, offline or something like that. So please add it as well.
Else where best application yet. Love it….

Fring on my e71 works fine except that when typing conversations on msn etc you cannot use the ENTER key instead having to use OPTIONS/SEND.
Also, as I think someone may have stated before, you cannot use characters such as -.
These are small problems, but a bug fix would be great at some point to fix these.

0) It always makes sound when you receive message even while the messaging form is active, this seems like a clear bug.
1) There must be way to disconnect without unsubscribing, for instance I do not wnt to stay logged in to msn, gtalk.
2) There must be away to change your status, it always seems “away”.
3) There have to be a way to rename, delete buddies. Also if it is possible there must be an option without deleting from actual account(ignore), so can set I do not want to see everybody in my mobile.

Also in e71 there are modes, it would be extremely useful if there were a way to associate profiles with them, for instance, when in biz mode I want to logged into my skype, when in fun mode, I want to be logged into gtalk, or non-biz skype account etc.

I installed Fring on my E71 and… I dont know… maybe theres something wrong with my phone maybe the Fring version for E71 is buggy.
The problem(s):
1) Regular problems (appear always)
I cant add buddies to Skype. When I do it the change does not apply.
2) Problems that appear often (more than 5 times from 10)
when logged in to the skype, I cant see my skype contacts. When I try to use SkypeOut it is not possible to make a call. Doesnt matter if Im connected by wifi or gprs. I have to log out, to close the Fring, to restart the Fring to log in to the Skype and than it works.

Fring is GREAT, easy to install and to use. The only problem is that I can only receive calls from Skype contacts, not make calls, as the skype official version for Nokia E71 does NOT work and cannot log in. Keep on the good job!

Works fine with Nokia E71 as far as chat goes. SIP is has slow response, I wonder if it is related with the client because it works fine when I use the embedded SIP client.
I would be nice to be able to view info about the contacts displayed such as email, nikname, etc. Sometimes just the nick name is not enough to know who the person is.

Not being able to press numbers when calling an IVR like my voice mail ie “Press 1″ for new messages.

I have been trying fring version 3.40 in my e71 for a while and noticed that renaming msn contacts that have long nicknames or start with different characters like ( or ! cause fring to crash and restart again. Is this bug a known issue? Will it be fixed in a future version? Best regards.

I saw Nokia N78 were mentioned above..
I have now installed Fring om my old Nokia 61 and my Nokia N78.
Fring runs quite Nice on both. I have been running them both via the built in 3G modem.
Chatting to Skype buddies etc works quite well. For reasons that I dont understand the old E61 gives crystal clear international SIP calls (via Fring) while the newer (and faster) N78 have had a few problems with “hacking” in the sound stream. (But it could be due to the sip vendor.)
I used to use my 3G datacard in my PC as a modem and a spare data connection.
A more perfect solution might be to buy a E71 and use this as a combined Fring client and as a Bluetooth modem. (The old E61 is a bit to slow to be used as a bluetooth modem.)
The N78 is missig a proper keyboard for chatting and the E61 is now a bit to slow.
From the discussion aboove in this tread, it looks like the E71 will be a quite good choice.

fist install the fring setup then make ID in skype then add ur frind then call him or her

Sorry to be blunt but not supporting WAN video for the front camera just sucks. It’s not a big achievement to manage audio transfers these days, the product must definitely have video stream integration in order to be worth something.
