Lets go green: Kinetic Cellphone Charger
fring is on a mission, our mission: To take mobile freedom to the next level.
The mobile industry is about to face a huge revolution and here at fring we will stop at nothing to bring you the latest and greatest from this industry.
Today we came across a unique new “green” battery that is set to take the world by storm and so we thought it deserves an honorable mention on the fring blog.
“M2E Power, a startup building technology that can harness everyday motion to power gadgets, is currently developing an external charger for powering cell phones and mobile devices that could be available as early as 2009.”
According to Regan Rowe, “the company is aiming to have the charger provide an hour of talk time for some six hours of normal movement (about two days). Rowe says that since the average for most cell-phone users is about 30 minutes of talk time a day, the motion-powered charger could take lots of folks off the grid.â€

“Lack of battery power is the number one frustration reported by cell phone users. (Twenty percent, lose power at least once a week.) M2E technology can make it possible to charge mobile electronic devices through everyday motions, such as walking.”

Now at fring nothing frustrates us more than a flat battery and this M2E technology sure looks promising. On behalf of the entire fring team we would like to congratulate the hard working boys and girls over at M2E, this sure looks like a great new product and we can’t wait to see it go live.
