Server Update
Hello fringsters,
We’ve updated our server today with a few things (no action needed). Thanks for all your feedback – keep it coming.:-)
1. SIP improvements
• Improved voice quality
• More functioning services within your SIP application
2. Some Skype users may have experienced SPAM over the past few days.
Fortunately this can be avoided:
• fring is auto-blocking all Skype SPAM centrally (blocking messages from people who are not my contact list) so you won’t be bothered on your mobile phone.
• To block SPAM also on your PC application, just go to tools –> options –> privacy and select ‘allow calls/chat from my contacts’

I’m leaving this as a comment here since I can’t seem to log in to the forums (for some reason my ID or password or both from registration are not being recognized).
Anyhow, unfortunately I am still experiencing the spam problem despite your server update. ie. contacts that are being automatically added to my skype contact list, leaving me spam chat, and only appear in my fring window on the cellphone (not in the Skype window on my PC).
The latest was from a contact named “Market666″ from China.
I would be grateful if you could look into this problem further.
Please note that I do have “calls/chat allowed only from contacts” in my skype profile but the problem persists.

I still get spam chats on Fring (through Skype) though Skype is set to “Only allow people from my contacts”. I have tried unregistering Skype and re-registering. The spam only appears on Fring – not on the Mac’s Skype app.
When the spam apprears, loads of people get added to my contacts on Fring (but, again, not on Skype).
Is there still an ongoing problem or is it me??
Shame really, as, other than this problem, Fring is fringing brilliant.

Yeah, Im still getting spam chats…
unfortunately though, the chats that are now coming thru are abusive ones… not good. :@

peoblems still exist – every time i run fring on my phone, but desktop skype settings change! The check box that blocks users not on my contact list is cleared. If I don’t run fring it is fine… I have skype 3.8
