Nokia E51 users world wide will be happy to know that fring now speaks their home language. So without further ado, I say:

i tried it on my E51 today. It could connect to all services but could not hear any sound. The skypeout call went through but without any sound. Same was the case with the fring test call. It used to work perfectly on my older E50.

Yesterday after installing Fring on my E51 the phone was unable to open ANY network connection anymore (no WLAN, no 3G/GPRS, nothing) I have uninstalled fring, but no change. So finally I have to reflash my phone. Thx to Nokia guys, there is atool that you can use to reflas from your PC using a simple USB cable …

over the two months that fring v. 3.30.06 has been on my Nokia e51, ~95% of the attempts to make a voice call simply failed
sometimes it does work – and then SkypeOut and Skype voice quality is very good, comparable to the landline
but in most cases it can’t get through even to ‘fring test call’ – the ‘call in progress’ message freezes, and in some 15-20 sec it drops the call and the app icon turns grey with a red cross
messaging with skype and fring contacts works fine, no problems
it’s just the voice calls that bring the frustration
apparently there’s no time of the day or bandwidth dependency – tried it at different times and the same AP with 256k connection dedicated solely to fring
so far it’s a fun app for me – nice to have it around, but not reliable for voice calls

I had tried several times to install and uninstall fring and APS server, however I could not make even a fring test call. The most confusing thing was that was working a week ago, on the same Wi-Fi spot. So I went through all settings, …. Now, I can stop molesting my e51 (and myself).

Hi, I have similar problem as Rehman. When I try to install Fring, it says that “Installation of fring8.sis not supported”. I have tried installation from web, from PC and from microSD card, nothing worked.

My problem with E51 was solved immediately after I sent the previous post. The Fring download for some unknown reason offered fring8.sis yesterday. When I tried it today, it offered fring92.sis which installed correctly.

I have installed Fring and it works perfectly. I couldnt get my Nokia SIP settings to work uninterrupted. I use a US SIPPHONE account (no monthly charges). Fring works perfectly every time (provided you have a good WLAN connection).
FRING PROBLEM: CANT DISCONNECT WLAN:
Problem: After installing Fring I could not get my WLAN connection to disconnect, or if E51 did disconnect then it would immediatly reconnect (even with Fring switched off). Fring seems to load a background instruction on start-up of the E51 to always connect to WLAN and override the Nokia WLAN disconnect settings. This didnt waste much WLAN bandwidth, but it did chew the battery on my E51, and my phone was often hot when not in use.
Solution: When you install Fring be sure to set Fring to “Always Ask” for a WLAN connection, otherwise Fring overrides the E51 “Switch WLAN Scanning Off” and “Disconnect WLAN” and and keeps your WLAN connection running which chews battery.
To make sure that Fring does not force your Nokia to always connect to WLAN do the following in Fring: Options > Settings > Connection Manager > Settings > Change from “WiFi first” to “Always Ask”.
VOIP IN SA:
In South Africa, Fring reduces my overseas landline call charges from several US$’s per minute to 2c per minute. VOIP was illegal here until a short while ago as it competed with our State run Telkom monopoly.. Fring + E51 = Telkom monopoly buster. Keep up the Good work Fring.

I had fring on my E51 to use Skype. After a few successful attempts, and some unsuccessful, my E51 fried. It was no more. Luckily it was under guarantee so I was able to get t replaced. But although I’m very keen to use it to Skype friends i’m very scared of trying Fring again. I’d be glad of any advice.

Hm, it’s probably no general problem.
It work’s with my new E51. I’ve tested only skype chat und skype-to-skype calls with my home wifi (wpa) connection. Icq was also working, but I don’t need to use it.

william: make sure the wifi connection is defined as an access point on your phone. Easiest was to do this is open up the internet browser on the phone and let it use the wifi connection to browse the net. That’ll add the network to your list of known access points. Then you should be able to use it in fring and any other applications.

i was enjoying |FRING in UAE. but now the UAE ISP blocked the site. is there any other solution please help.
Also some other VOip sites also blocked but we can use the Application. they blocked only the website. not the application.
Same like that application we cannot use FRING. please help

About UAE etisalat blocking the websites of many VOIP softwares including Fring, I have the solution
Use the following software: HOTSPOT SHEILD
the purpose of this software is to connect to different proxy than the one you are connected to which is etisalat in this case.

Hi everyone. I have Nokia95 and about half year ago (Spring 2008) tryed to install fring. It didn’t install at all. Now my son on other end in Latvia installed Fring on his E65 and I suddenly could install on my N95. I THINK THE SOFTWARE IS UPGRADED NOW. That was cool. He has wireless at home, I have unlimited mobile internet with O2 (if I connect my mobile to PC they charge crazy money). Actually we talk totally for free. Regarding SIP we have to ask FRINGERS they should know this things. Ther is a good service on VOXALOT. If you register with them you can get good service. As a sample you can work out settings for another services. Make sure you have 3G connection and some mobile phone operators are blocking this services. One of my friend have Network 3. We made profile for him to try to talk over the VOXALOT…. Just first 3 – 5 seconds and you are disconnected. I heard about T mobile something same.

I have E51, fring got connected to the phone line to my buddies,it cud hear the ringing tone here,not getting connected, but when i ask my buddies there, they never receive any ring or call in their mobile or land phone?? what cud be the probmlem.

i am using e51
UAE has blocked fring but i tried with old version and its work but not like new version the voice qulity is very bad … only we can get help by the fring team..i suggest them if they can change the version it can work coz fring is working in UAE but in Iphones and Imate.only problem is with the nokia..we hope fring team gona help us with the new version..

I installed the Fring on my Nokia E51 and I could login to my fring account through the WAP Network not through WLAN and everytime I am trying use the WLAN Network it is giving me the message that Could not Establish connection to fring network
any one have a solution cause Etisalat Block the Website in UAE but I can use the fring on my Iphone without any Problem
