If you are registering for the first time on the iphone app, entering a email address that is in the format of firstname.lastname@domain.com will not work.....

It reports that the email address is invalid

I'm thinking it is the . (dot) in between firstname.lastname

Unfortunately this is (now) a known bug :-(

If you have a gmail account you can register without the dot.
This field is not mandatory so you can leave it empty (and make sure you write down your password since you won't have an option to retrieve it)

Also the username/nick only allows a-z 1-9, not underscore ?

I've noticed that it's impossible to move the cursor inside the email input field too, so i had to retype my email like 10 times

hello,
i just installed fring on my iphone 3g,
like other people, my gmail address contain "dot" before "@gmail.com";
so i registered with this gmail adress without "dot" like the administrator said, and it work!
but i just want to know if i have to receive a confirmation mail about this registration with "user id and password" , because it would be a "privacy problem" if someone other than me receive it...
someone who have the same gmail address than me but before the "dot" for example..

As the nickname only allows letters from a to z, it does not include characters like ä, etc. This is pretty ridiculous for us non-English speakers. C'mon, it's 2008.

Ok, so this is a known bug. I just wanted to delete the dots in my Gmail address, but - for two times now - fring locks up when the magnifying glass shows.
