fring® on iPhone App Store

iPhone and iPod touch users join fring’s growing global mobile community

LONDON, 1st October 2008, fring® today became available for all Apple iPhone™ and iPod touch™ owners, enabling them to talk, chat and interact with other fring users (“fringsters”) and all of their online communities (Skype®, MSN®, Google Talk™, ICQ, Twitter, Yahoo!™ & AIM®) using their device’s internet connection.

A special preview R&D version of fring’s popular mobile communication and community application was made available for the iPhone earlier this year (15th April 2008) making it the first of its kind to appear on the device.  A phenomenal response was received to this world first, and since then fring has been gathering feedback on usage and experience and has used this data to develop the new best in breed version, available today on the Apple App Store.
Both iPhone and iPod touch users will now have the ability to join the global family of millions of fring users in more than 200 countries worldwide and the freedom of taking all of their favorite online communities mobile using their device’s internet connection.  fring’s feature-rich application enables users to enjoy live, mobile instant messaging with their online buddies, regardless of whether their contacts are on mobile, PC or other internet device, and make cost effective mobile calls to them over WiFi.

During login, fring automatically creates a single, integrated contact list, combining individuals from all of the users’ selected internet communities and regular mobile address books.  The result is a highly valuable, dynamic list which uses fring’s always-connected ability to continually update contact availability info, displaying in real-time whether friends are online, away, offline, free or already in a call or an IM chat.   This provides a new level of freedom to interact with all of your online contacts from your mobile just as if you were in front of your PC.
And fring has made it easier than ever to get started and manage your online communities;  a new, convenient Add-on menu for iPhone, displaying all of your favorite online communities

makes it easier than ever to select and integrate all of your online buddies into fring, so you can keep in touch and interact with your online world at the tap of a screen.
As well as communication with your online communities, the new fring client offers the added freedom of making either regular cellular, SkypeOut or SIP calls using any one of the hundreds of SIP providers already working with fring (see fring for details)  A replica dialer screen familiar to all iPhone users, with the additional calling features is embedded into fring, so that all of your mobile communication needs are provided for in one place.  This underlines fring''s belief in openness and freedom of mobile communications, to provide fringsters with as many communication options and as wide a choice as possible.
As with all other fring versions, fring for iPhone and iPod touch is free to download and free to use without any subscription fees!

fring was launched in February 2007, and since January 2008 has been experiencing growth in excess of 200,000 new fringsters per month across more than 200 countries worldwide.  fring’s aim is to spread its philosophy of fringing freedom to as many mobile phone users as possible and its launch today of the application on the iPhone App Store is another important step in this direction.
